Not to be outdone by their husbands who were themselves mountaineers three intrepid ladies embarked on their journey which everyone said could not be done by women. Lady Hunt generously lent her name to the expedition also Dame Isobel Cripps and Mrs Pandit. After some sensational newspaper publicity and the support of the Rover Company.
